This kitchen was outdated and inefficient.  To save money, we were able to keep the same footprint, but replaced the cabinets.  We moved a few things around, i.e. moved the fridge and wall ovens near the pantry.  We got rid of the old range and replaced with a cooktop in the old fridge location.  We also got rid of the soffit and took the cabinets to the ceiling, adding a crown molding to finish it off.  New lighting, backsplash, granite tops and stainless appliances, including a wine cooler on the back side of the island made this kitchen truly more beautiful and efficient.  There is a place for everything!
