After . . .
The before pictures show a room that is truly out of balance. The stone on the fireplace and the closet that projects into the room create a space that feels incomplete and lop-sided. By removing the existing stone and matching it on the opposite side (the closet) we were able to create a sense of symmetry which is much more pleasing. Taking the stone to the ceiling creates height and grandeur for this great room.
The built-in entertainment center of painted knotty alder is in line with the rustic decor of the home. The storage it has provides a place for movies, books, children's toys, and television components. The new painted mantel ties the two together and gives much needed uniformity to the room. Recessed lighting - on dimmers - can give the soft glow of ambient light as well as general lighting. It also highlights the beauty and colors of the stone, providing the warmth this room needed. |
