This kitchen was full of interesting features. Unfortunately it lacked adequate lighting, storage space, and pizazz. The first thing we did was build a wall where there was open shelving. This allowed the installation of the fridge and wall oven/microwave as well as a make-shift desk on the end of the cabinet run. Removing the peninsula and installing a counter height island gave the kitchen a more open feel and a great workspace. The new cabinets and appliances really updated the look. We used a painted finish on the island and stained cabinets on the perimeter for interest. New can lights and pendants solved the lighting issue. Travertine floors and backsplash, along with new granite tops make this kitchen a cook's delight!
